🌻We have heard the news of two positive birth stories this week; an induction & a caesarean birth 🌻

These two incredible Mama’s were from our last round of Made for Motherhood™🌻

This post is dedicated to you two & anyone else out there who is a new Mama at the moment❤️❤️

Many cultures around the world have specific postpartum rituals for the first 40 days after childbirth AKA the fourth trimester.

This is thought to avoid ill health in later years and promote recovery and attachment to baby.

The first 40 days is a sacred time.

Themes around 20 different cultures include organised support for mothers, rest, nourishment and restoration.

Bonding with baby. Skin to skin, Eating warm, nourishing, restorative and easy-to digest-foods.

Keep it low-key - the very oppositve to modernization and gobalization in today’s world.

Rest, sleep, stay at home, in bed, as much as possible.

Ask for help.

Avoid returning to work or household duties for as long as you can (🤭 can I still use that excuse 2 years on?)

I know, I personally really struggled with this adjustment from being such a ‘doer’ to just ‘being’ with my newborn snuggled up on my chest.

However, I will forever be grateful my Midwife reminded me multiple times just how powerful these 40days are in terms of postpartum recovery for Mama & Baby- from a physical & mental aspect along with the neural pathways it is ignited in our newborns 🧠

The last month I’ve been super quiet on socials.

On paper it is because of family time, kids at home, Blah, Blah, Blah.

And it’s true

HOWEVER...…

These types of hurdles have never stopped me showing up in my business before.

So why have I been hiding lately?

Well, the truth is my heart has been HEAVY and I have felt HELPLESS 💔.

HEAVY for pregnant families. HEAVY for parents feeling rushed to make decisions for their 5 yrs olds. HEAVY for people advocating for themselves and losing their jobs. HEAVY for loved ones not able to hug dying relatives. HEAVY for the strained health system and people needing to access it or work in it. HEAVY for Mama’s like @charlottebellis trying to get home to NZ.

There has also been an element of FEAR

FEAR of saying the wrong thing.

FEAR my views might be different to yours.

FEAR I might come accoss too strong wanting to HELP you. (cue awkward dating days lol🤭).

I TRUELY want to HELP every Mama out there who could do with extra support/ another friend at the moment 🤗.

All of this FEAR lead to AVOIDANCE.

Hands up🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️ Are you pregnant and feeling OVERWHELMED, HEAVY or HELPLESS right now.
